Welcome to Maryna Kisil Studio, a garment form-creation studio where bold ideas come to life, and where you will learn not only how to construct any shape, but also how to think creatively and in three-dimensional space.
The main focus of the studio’s work is teaching garment form creation across all possible techniques. This includes training in garment draping, construction and pattern manipulation, form creation through various textural draping techniques, zero-waste methods, transformations and deformations of garment shape, spiral cutting, bias-cut techniques, and numerous approaches to creative experimentation with form.
Maryna Kisil is a fashion and textile surface designer, and a lecturer in fashion form creation.
She holds a PhD in Art Studies (Design) and is an Associate Professor.

The course «Creative sleeves draping» will consist of 3 modules in accordance with the principles of shaping, which are based on the original geometric structures - circle, square and spiral twist.
This course consists of 25 main lessons where you will learn how to drape original sleeves, as well as an additional 7 lessons that give you the basic skills needed for this course.
This course will be useful for fashion designers, tailors, owners of ateliers and fashion brands, those who are still studying or just love to sew for themselves and their families.
The course is designed for both beginners who are just learning drapery and nore experienced designers looking for new and original design solutions.
Each lesson contains a description of the draping sequence, a video tutorial, necessary photos and manufacturing recommendations. Pattern msking solutions are very simple, so they are not provided separately.
The course will be available on the Google Classroom platform with the possibility of individual lessons and downloading learning outcomes.

The practical manual to Textile Surface Design for fashion reveals the peculiarities of working with the smocking technique and is intended for fashion and textile designers, as well as for anyone interested in textured fashion design around the world.
The manual contains 20 designs of smocking patterns with a detailed description of the technique and its application in fashion

If you are a beginner and only starting to explore form creation, particularly draping, it is best to begin with a scaled dress form (1:2). This soft miniature mannequin is a reduced copy of a full-sized form and is ideal for experimenting with shape without using large amounts of fabric.
If you are a professional (designer, atelier specialist, pattern cutter, etc.), it is better to have a full-sized dress form. This will allow you to immediately apply your newly acquired skills in practical work. Dress forms for draping can be made from papier-mâché or polyurethane foam (soft forms); under no circumstances should plastic or polystyrene mannequins be used.
For draping and experimenting with form, you will need the following materials:
Draping fabric can be a cheaper analogue of the fabric intended for your project, or you may use unbleached calico of various densities (the optimal universal density is 120–140 g). For the basic course, you will need at least 7–10 metres.
Tools:
Marking tape, tailor’s pins without ball heads (or small nails), measuring tape, thread snips, scissors, heat-erasable pen, tailor’s chalk, magnetic pin holder, French curve, set square ruler, pattern paper, tracing paper, graphite pencil, thread, needles, flexible ruler, and a sketchbook for drawings.

Курс макетування як підвищення кваліфікації для конструкторів
20 років тому я отримала вищу освіту конструктора одягу. Здавалося б, можна видихнути й спокійно працювати... Але ні! Світ змінюється, технології розвиваються, клієнти хочуть нових силуетів - тож вчимося далі. Сертифікат про проходження курсу з дапірування @maryna_kisil_studio - не просто документ для підвищення кваліфікації (хоча гарно виглядає на фото, правда?). Курс став для мене таким собі «фітнесом для мозку»: прокачав уяву, розширив формат мислення й змусив дивитися на знайомі процеси під новим кутом (тепер я навіть рушники складаю по-іншому).
Чи потрібна вища освіта в нашій сфері? Поки мій диплом попросили один раз, коли потрібно було зробити перший запис в трудову, але бажання розвиватися - обов'язкове. Вона може дати базу (а може в не дати), але саме такі курси допомагають додати спецій у професійне життя та вивести свої навички на новий рівень.Висновок: вчитися треба не заради диплома, а заради того, щоб із кожним днем ставати кращим у своїй справі. Ну і щоб менше дивуватися «магії» справжніх кутюрʼє.
